Sharpen your navigation skills with two new eLearning packages
30 April 2025

British Canoeing Awarding Body is delighted to launch two brand new eLearning packages: Navigation for Paddlers and Open Crossings.

Navigate the Water with Confidence

The Navigation for Paddlers eLearning is ideal for anyone navigating on the water, including sea and river paddlers, stand up paddleboarders, clubs, coaches and leaders. This module introduces both pre-trip planning and on-the-water navigating, including when you may need to change your plan. Topics covered include handrailing, collection points, and aiming off and attack points. The Navigation eLearning includes estimating speed and distance, as well as taking a compass bearing.

Check out the Navigation for Paddlers eLearning.

Tackle Open Crossings with Preparation

The Open Crossings eLearning is designed for more experienced paddlers planning crossings in both tidal and non-tidal waters. Topics include dead reckoning, calculating set and drift, and working out your position. The module also delves into potential dangers and considerations, as well as example trip planning.
