stadium SAFETY & RESCUE COURSE
The Stadium Safety and Rescue Training course, offered by the British Canoeing Awarding Body, is intended for individuals who will be providing safety cover on artificial white water courses. The training will cover the following UK artificial, white water centres:
- Lee Valley White Water Centre
- Cardiff White Water Centre
- Pinkston White Water Centre
- Nene White Water Centre
- Nottingham White Water Centre
- Tees White Water Centre
There are no age restrictions for course participants. However, if providers permit individuals under 18 to attend, they must implement appropriate safeguarding measures and give due attention to the increased legal responsibilities and potential risks involved. The safety and welfare of participants under 18 are paramount. Providers who are uncertain about their suitability to allow participants under 18 should consult Paddle UK.
Course Content
This four-hour training course aims to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills for safely navigating artificial white water environments. Participants will learn Shout, Reach, and Throw line techniques, gain an introduction to safe swimming in such settings, and be introduced to basic rescue protocols.
The primary objective is to enhance an individual's awareness of risks and develop safety skills, always prioritising the safety of the individual above all else.
