SAFEGUARDING TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
This page identifies the training requirements for various groupings of individuals within the remit of Paddle Scotland. This should be read alongside the Standards for Deployment guidance for further role specific requirements
Minimum Training options:
- Introductory Training - British Canoeing Awarding Body Introduction to Safeguarding - a 45 minute elearning course available here.
- Basic Training - Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport - a 2 part e-learning and live (face to face or virtual classroom) course delivered by Paddle Scotland or many other sporting organisations in Scotland. Find out more
- Specialist Training - Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer Training - A specialist course for those with a lead role in safeguarding. Note this course requires prior completion of CWPS. Find out more
- Board and Committee Training - a free e-learning module for leaders in sporting organisations, particularly those who have not completed training 2 or 3 above. Find out more
Refresher Training Options
- Refresher Training - British Canoeing Safeguarding Refresher - a 45 minute e-learning course. Find out more.
- Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport Refresher Modules - new modules to be released by Sportscotland and Children 1st to support individuals who have attended CWPS 3 years ago.

As part of the introduction of Standards For Deployment, we no longer recognise alternative training courses beyond those specified.
